I had formatted a Western Digital Mybook 500G external hard disk and when I tried to install optwar, I got the below error message. My router is Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH.
So does this error message refer to my router not supported or the hard disk not supported?
Any solutions?

You say you formatted your hdd. How did you format it? |

i wrote the install script in a way it will differentiate between unsupported hardware and wrong format (needs to be ext2 or ext3).i dont own a buffalo so i don't really know what's so different.. does it even have a Broadcom chipset?)

No, WZR-HP-G300N(H) is Atheros mips, not mipsel.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH uses Atheros AR9132@400 chipset. Does you script support this or could you direct me to the right script?

Since my hard disk is 500gb. I partitioned like this:
Disk greater than 40 GB
/opt 512 megabytes
swap 64 megabytes
/jffs 256 megabytes
data remainder of the disk

I'd just stick with installing Optware on a USB
I had a 1GB USB 2.0 I wasn't using
Booted with GPartEd and partitioned into 3 parts
640MB for Optware, 128MB for Swap, 350ishMB (rest of it) for JFFS
Optware runs quick and fine on that.
current download of optware takes aobut 200-250MB
So plenty of room left on the 1GB for other apps, etc
Since the Asus RT-N16 has 2 USB, you have a 2nd USB port for a NAS drive.
Just remember - use a self powered (drive with an AC adapter)
Its better to NOT use USB powered hard drives from what I've read.

Thanks for the info however what I had in mind was using a gigabit nas rather than usb. I plan on using the torrent client and downloading my files to the nas as well as using the nas for my storage to put my movies, music, etc. Do you think this is possible? |

I'm new to optware, only used it for about a week, but all
the documentation, forums, and wiki show that it HAS to run off USB
Easiest again, is to just use a USB 2.0 drive.
USB 1.1 drives run too slow, make sure its USB 2.0 drive.
Should still be able to configure the gigabit NAS once Optware is up and running.

How long have you had OTRW running and how many builds have you upgraded since install? It might be wise to completely reinstall
Or you may just need to update the repo's:

How often do people upgrade packages?
Should it be done once a month? Should it be done when you update DD-WRT versions?
And am guessing, once you update, need to reboot router for updates to take effect?

I have it for a year. It just happened last night. I reinstall everything but still the same problem. Hope it has nothing to do with the upgrade from WRT610v2 to E3000. |
