Perfect family or relaxing couples/friends holiday.
I went to Riu Buena Vista with high expectations- I have visited Riu Hotels in different countries before and knew the standard that other Riu hotels had set. I went with my friend, and although we understood that it was August in the middle of the school holidays (the only time we could have off) the hotel was full of families, with very few couples there without children. It was not a problem though, as we were still able to enjoy the daytime entertainment and really relaxed. The rooms were basically furnished, but immaculately clean and tidy as well as generously sized. Our balcony view over the two pools and the sea was amazing. The food was well cooked, however unvaried from night-to-night unless you visited the themed restaurant- which was perfectly situated on the sea front (Chinese night was the best food we’d eaten all week). What made the holiday though were the friendly and welcoming members of staff- from the bar staff such as Claudio and Anastasia who were always chatty and conversational, to the fab entertainment and animation team who made sure there was never a dull moment. The TUI reps, Ellie and Babs, were also incredibly helpful. My only negative of the trip was the lack of things to do in the evening (especially for adults) after the main entertainment finished at 11, and the bars closed at midnight. Overall, impressed with the quality of the holiday for the money.
Great family holiday
We spent an overwhelmingly pleasant fortnight at this hotel - and arrived with some trepidation having read some of the more scathing Trip Advisor reviews.Let's deal with this in positive and negatives.Positives first. The staff are fantastic - everything you would expect of a Riu team member, from the cleaners to the bar staff and all in between.Food and drink is good quality and plentiful and you can help yourself at self-service stations or by going to the various bars/restaurants.The hotel offers some spectacular sea views. The pools are a decent temperature and there are plenty of sunbeds. The hotel is impeccably clean.Rooms are spacious. There are lots of facilties; tennis courts, football court, pool table etc.The negativesThe hotel IS in need of a revamp as many people state. But it is not scruffy or downtrodden. Just worn here and there. If you can see past that, you will have a great break. It is isolated. There's not a whole lot nearby, although you can get a shuttle bus for free to Playa de las Americas. The animation team shows were bordering on the tragic. Not very good at all SummaryWe have stayed at many Riu hotels over the years and a majority of the have been new or just a couple of years old. While its lovely to stay somewhere modern and shiny new, our family (two adults and three children) had a great stay here and it is well worth considering - especially as prices seem to be good right now.
A great family holiday to Tenerife...
We haven’t stayed before but heard good things about Riu hotels. It’s little things that mean a lot on holiday so the pool towels, bottles of water, and the safe all of which we would pay for on other holidays were a welcome change. There are shops in the reception area, and staff are very friendly with nothing too much trouble. Including the entertainment team. The rooms were spacious and clean with a good sized bathroom, and separate shower. There is a 2nd toilet too. There isn’t a kettle, but there is a fridge and they will provide you with one if you ask. After a few days reception called to check if we were enjoying our stay. The large balcony has a table, chairs and sun lounger and we had a view of the sea! There are two pools, and two restaurants serving a variety of food like salad, fish, pasta, pizza as well as meat, chips and local dishes. It has a good selection of fruit, pastries and ice cream. At breakfast fresh coffee is brought to your table. There is quieter restaurant just down the hill from the main one. It’s a quieter dining experience with stunning views across the ocean, with a short walk down to the black sandy beach. There are themed food evenings serving Italian and Chinese food. Id say the alcohol is watered down, a bit tasteless but they do serve Cava which was great as we were celebrating a birthday! Entertainment was good. I expect this already great hotel will be one we will return to as we can’t wait to see what’s in store following its refurb!
a gem in tenerife
just returned from 11 nights at Riu Buena Vista, and having not done all inclusive for years was not sure what to expect, but wasnt dissapointed. Had a family suite facing the banana plantation and it was excellent for privacy. Very quiet apart from the bloody cockerel constantly crowing. Room would have benefited from drawers but we managed with the wardrobes..we were on the 7th floor and it was very peaceful. food was good but dont do cooked breakfast as not up to scottish standard but apart from that very adequate.enertainment was very spanish except 1 artiste who was amazing, and if you get the chance to watch him do not miss it, an amazing singer/guitarist called Ckoko Kateliev, he really has to be experienced. The drink system is excellent in the Riu. If you want alcohol you can have it, if you dont there is plenty of non alcoholic drinks, plus free water from reception. The only criticism we had was if you have a sign at the pool saying no balls or airbeds enforce it as nobody seemed to bother about the rules. sunbeds towelled before 8.00am, people in the pool after 6pm - nobody in management seemed to bother. I would certainly return but it would be even better as adults only
Amazing holiday!!
We have just finished our lovely holiday in Tenerife! On approach the hotel looked impressive! The reception area is very spacious and we were greeted by the lovely staff. We arrived late at around half 9 and dinner finished at 10, the reception staff advised us to go and get some food and check in later (we were very hungry at this point). Once checked in we went to our rooms, A607. The rooms are huge! Really unexpected! As only paying for a basic room we did not expect a gorgeous sea view balcony with a huge lounge area, 2 bathrooms and a large bedroom! The rooms were immaculately clean. We had read from previous reviews that rooms we dated, however I don’t think this is the case, they are lovely! The beds are very comfy too! We had a bath and a separate shower which was very helpful! There is also a free safe in the room! We were so impressed by the food! A really good choice of so many different foods all lovely! I don’t think I tried something and didn’t like it! The food choice changed each day but obviously still having the basics like chips! The restaurant staff were very helpful, and ensured the room was clean and plates weren’t left out after people had finished! There is a self service drink section in the restaurant so you don’t have to wait to get a drink! The food itself tasted delightful, really well cooked and seasoned food! Very impressed! Drinks drink drinks!! I tried the mojito on the first night and didn’t drink anything else! It was soooo nice! But there were so many cocktail choices! And bar staff were amazing too! One of the nights we booked to use the themed restaurants! We wish we had a gone to it more than once! We went to the Asian night, it was like going to a nice buffet Chinese restaurant! We were all very impressed by the food there! Packed full of flavour and so much choice! This was nice as you were able to eat your food while looking out at sea, very picturesque! We never found it hard to find sun beds! We had a good sunbeds everyday next to the pool and we reserved them around 9 o’clock so pretty late really, and this was the first week of the school holidays and the hotel was really busy! The pools were amazing and warm! The infinity pool was particularly nice at night for photo opportunities! The entertainment was also very good! The entertainment team were very enthusiastic About their work and always ensure everyone was having a good time! The shows at night were also good, one of the singers on the Saturday night Brenda was an incredibly singer! Unfortunately there are some negatives.... no free WiFi, it’s the 2019 I think there should be WiFi, but it doesn’t bother me that much as you’re on holiday don’t go on your phone! And I’m only 20! No air conditioning in the gym! Too hot! The towels in the rooms were hard and need replacing! Thank you so much for our amazing stay keep up the good work! I understand the hotel is being done up next year! I don’t think it needs it! It’s such a shame! Best all inclusive we have been on!
